Job Description

The Center of Excellence (COE) Master Data Management (MDM) role will require a strategic thinker focused on outcomes who is responsible for driving the technology-enabled discipline where business and IT collaborate to control, standardize, and oversee data quality and integrity for all master data domains related to the ERP system (SAP). This role will ensure the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, semantic consistency, and accountability of the company’s primary shared master data assets. The COE MDM collaborates with Business owners, other Business process architects (COE leaders), solution vendors, technical architects, and IT to establish and drive process improvement, define and document data definitions, and advocate for improving data quality and integrity, particularly regarding material master data. This role will be crucial in building an infrastructure to deliver world-class medical device products to our customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drive change management for MDM governance and strategy and gain cross-functional alignment.
  • Develop strategies to ensure data taxonomy, hierarchy, and material master attributes can be consumed in EDW for output by the business for analysis and reporting, by working with enterprise and franchise analytics teams.
  • Lead the Center of Excellence for MDM by managing the creation, implementation, and maintenance of master data management, best practices, and standards across Global COE and IT systems throughout the life cycle of parts across all business units. This includes NPI through service EOL.
  • Work with IT, COE, Subject Matter Experts (SME), and Business users to understand the current and define the future state of how MDM drives data integrity through all systems connected to the ERP. This includes shaping solution designs and following a structured methodology for maintaining data integrity across systems.
  • Empower users to optimize system capabilities and ensure the corporate data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.
  • Develop and document processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity across all different functional areas and assist in resolving data quality issues through proper error detection and correction, process control, and improvement.
  • Drive data cleaning strategies and maintenance through Global COE groups to manage expired data, unused data, or duplicate data more effectively and for quicker access.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in master data management, data governance, or similar, along with SAP HANA S/4.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project team or staff management experience.
  • Minimum Bachelor/Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Data Analytics, Operations, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience working with industry standards, regulations, and guidelines in data management, database warehousing, or other relevant systems with a solid understanding of data modeling, profiling, and mining.
  • Understanding of how material master attributes affect the ERP system, data, and how they relate cross-functionally and impact each of the global areas.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in establishing standardized processes and procedures to manage master data.
  • Ability to influence change cross-functionally and work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment managing competing priorities, multiple tasks, and ambiguity.
  • Ability to develop and maintain business partnerships with customers at all levels, resolve conflicts, predict customer needs, and prioritize multiple customer schedules.
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills to translate complex problems using non-technical terminology.
  • Prior experience with SAP/Agile preferred.
