This position is for a Sr. Consultant level Machine Learning Engineer with solid development experience who will focus on introducing new capabilities for Visa AI as a Service while refining our code base and development processes. In this role, you are expected to be a passionate and skilled developer who can work in a dynamic environment as part of Agile Scrum teams. Your proficiency in technical leadership, problem-solving abilities, coding, testing, and debugging skills is just the starting point. You must be committed to meeting product backlog and delivering production-ready code. You need to be ready to go beyond the routine and be willing to do a variety of tasks.

You will be a key member of the development team, sometimes exploring new requirements and designs and sometimes reworking existing functionality for improved performance and maintainability. But always identifying ways to make us more efficient and provide superior solutions to our end-users. This role is for a self-organized individual knowledgeable in web application and web service development. The candidate will carry out hands-on activities including design, documentation, development, and testing of new functionalities. The candidate must be flexible and willing to switch tasks based on the team’s needs.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure the development and implementation of new data-driven business solutions.
• Oversee development efforts from end to end for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that meet requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards.  Responsibilities cover all phases of solution development.
• Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, create contingency plans for, monitor, and manage risks and issues until all are resolved
• Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
• Coach and mentor junior team members and develop the team's talent pipeline.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field and 5+ years of Machine Learning System Development Experience post-PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in leading-edge areas such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Stream Computing, MLOps, In-Memory Computing.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following:  Golang, Java, Python, or C/C++
• Expertise in web service standards and related patterns (REST, gRPC)
• Expertise in developing large-scale, enterprise-level distributed systems or subsystems that demand high availability, low-latency, & strict data consistency computing.
• Expertise in architecting solutions with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in mind
• Expertise in distributed in-memory computing technologies like Redis
• Experience with Big Data and general analytics leveraging technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and MapReduce
• Experience developing proper metrics instrumentation in software components, to help facilitate real-time and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Depends upon the requirements of the department

Travel Requirements: This position demands travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will necessitate the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 138,500.00 to 180,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). The salary may vary depending on job-related factors which might include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may qualify for a bonus and equity.
