Role Overview: Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Senior Data Engineer to influence the design and architecture of Samba TV's expansive data platform. In this role, you will:

• Define, schedule, and monitor data pipelines
• Create tools to enhance development speed and increase visibility
• Collaborate with Data Science and other teams to improve data models and processing algorithms
• Identify and address bottlenecks in the development process to refine our data platform tools

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new data pipelines supporting ad campaign measurements
• Automate business processes and support key dataset visualization
• Analyze and enhance the efficiency, scalability, and stability of data collection, storage, and retrieval
• Work with data scientists, data analysts, and other partners to develop tools and frameworks for self-service analytics
• Improve observability and monitoring of production processes by instrumenting code and creating services for pipeline job and dataset state visibility
• Focus on the performance of individual jobs in processing pipelines, understanding the algorithms, trade-offs, and bottlenecks affecting runtime and resource consumption
• Mentor other data team members, exemplifying coding and software design best practices

Requirements

• 3+ years of industry experience
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python or mastery of another modern programming language with the desire to excel in Python
• Excellent communication skills, especially in written form
• Comfortable working with Data Science, Analytics, and other internal consumers to align product requirements with Data Engineering
• Strong problem-solving skills and data analysis interpretation abilities
• A mathematical inclination is a significant advantage
• Experience with Apache Spark, Big Query, or similar large-scale data processing frameworks is a plus
