Role Summary:

As a senior data engineer, you will play an integral role in shaping our data infrastructure and analytics initiatives at State Street. This position involves contributing to the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of data pipelines. You will ensure data integrity, scalability, and security within our advanced technology frameworks.

Role Description:

State Street is seeking a talented data architect with 5-8 years of hands-on ETL experience and proficiency in distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Hive. Experience with the Azure platform is particularly desirable. In this role, you will:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines.
• Develop and optimize data models and schemas for both analytical and operational use cases.
• Establish data quality standards and implement data governance processes.
• Create visual data representations to help the business understand complex information.
• Work closely with our infrastructure and DevOps teams to uphold the reliability and performance of our data infrastructure.
• Explore and evaluate new technologies in the data engineering space to enhance our data processing capabilities.

Core Skills Required:

Senior Data Engineer candidates should have extensive experience in data engineering, solid expertise in Scala or Python, and strong practical knowledge of Spark Scala/PySpark and Spark SQL. Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, Unix Shell Scripting, and data integration tools is essential. Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, and agile development methodologies are also required.

Additional Desired Skills:

Knowledge of Azure data services, containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and familiarity with the banking domain are advantageous.

This is a hybrid role, blending remote work with onsite engagements to foster collaboration and innovation.
