Working at Box, you will collaborate with skilled teammates to build and support data pipelines, aiding our product teams, analytics staff, and data scientists in propelling our data initiatives forward.

What You'll Do at Box

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:

  • Design and manage robust data pipelines that consolidate and transform data from diverse sources.
  • Develop and maintain optimal data pipeline architectures.
  • Aggregate large, complex data sets to meet both functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Drive internal process enhancements such as automating tasks and optimizing data delivery.
  • Utilize tools like GCP BigQuery and Spark to build necessary infrastructure for effective data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Create powerful analytics tools that leverage the data pipeline, offering actionable insights into operational efficiency and other crucial business metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders from Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to troubleshoot data-related issues and meet their data needs.
  • Develop tools for analytics and data science team members, helping them to innovate and enhance our product.
  • Influence practices and advocate for best practices across our organization.

Who You Are

Ideally, you will have:

  • Over 5 years of experience in the industry or academia, handling significant data volumes.
  • Proven ability in developing scalable data pipelines and architectures.
  • Expertise in SQL and proficiency in other programming languages like Scala, Java, or scripting languages like Python, NodeJS.
  • Experience with GCP tools (BigQuery, Dataproc, Dataflow/Fusion) and big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
  • Strong analytical abilities with both structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Experience in collaborative environments and dynamic teams.
  • Familiarity with virtualization/container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) and visualisation software (Tableau, React).

At Box, we cherish community and in-person collaboration, expecting our team members to work from their assigned office a minimum of two days per week, ideally on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
