We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Data Engineer to join our innovative team at Walmart Global Tech. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and forward-thinking team, leveraging technologies like Apache Spark, Scala, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Position Summary

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our vast data resources. While expertise in Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) is advantageous, it is not a mandatory requirement for this position.

We collaborate with multiple departments and utilize machine learning to enhance profitability across various categories and geographies, aiding leadership in making faster, well-informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage data pipelines using Apache Spark and Scala.
• Utilize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for deploying, operating, and monitoring large-scale data processing systems.
• Analyze complex data sets to meet business requirements.
• Implement process improvements for greater scalability, optimized data delivery, and automation.
• Collaborate with data scientists to enhance data system functionality.
• Ensure data architecture supports business needs.
• Implement security measures such as access controls and encryption.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
• Foster strong relationships with peer groups and customers.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong analytical skills for both structured and unstructured data sets.
• Proficiency in Scala and SQL.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and big data tools.
• Experience with data pipeline, workflow management, and ETL tools.
• Experience with CI pipeline tools like Jenkins.

Preferred

• Knowledge of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI).
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences and understanding WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
