Position Overview

The Senior Data Engineer role is a key part of the Protective's Enterprise Data Integration team. Reporting to the Enterprise Data Integration Manager, this position is geared towards individuals who exhibit a high level of independence and expertise. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting, enhancing, and developing ETL processes using your rich experience and refined judgment.

This role demands a dynamic blend of technical prowess and problem-solving skills, with a substantial focus on defining and deploying data integration solutions. You will play a significant role in data transformation according to business rules and MDM, ensuring robust data governance in collaboration with the Enterprise Data Management team.

Furthermore, the role requires analytical skills to evaluate data sources, determine the most effective integration methods, and contribute to the enhancement of our Enterprise Data Integration architecture and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and refine ETL processes.
  • Engage in comprehensive data modeling across relational and analytical systems.
  • Develop solutions that adhere to industry best practices in Enterprise Data Integration.
  • Lead and mentor junior developers, enhancing their skills and understanding of technical processes.
  • Maintain proactive communication across different stakeholders including management, IT professionals, and business analysts.
  • Contribute to multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for the Senior Data Engineer position at Protective will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of IT development experience, with a preference for those with operational and incident management expertise.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Business Intelligence applications utilizing the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack.
  • Proven experience in relational and dimensional data modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cloud Data Lake technologies with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Experience with Python and strong database skills, preferably Microsoft T-SQL.
  • Practical experience with CI/CD and agile methodologies, particularly Agile SDLC.

Additional certifications like ITIL Foundation V3 and experience with Control-M V9 will be considered a plus.
