Job Description

Your Role

As a data engineer, you are fundamental in ensuring the accessibility and dependability of our data infrastructure. You build, monitor, and manage the entire data ecosystem, including pipelines, databases, and more. Automation is an essential part of your work, as you are tasked with automating our data infrastructure's deployment, making processes more efficient and scalable.

Beyond infrastructure, you also assist in converting client and product needs into functional designs for data systems and environments. You translate these requirements into practical solutions, ensuring that data systems align with the project's unique demands.

Cooperation is crucial, as you'll guide the technical aspects of a project alongside the tech team and developers. Your expertise is key in making data-driven decisions and ensuring data is effectively utilized to drive success in projects and products.

Qualifications

What we offer you

  • An opportunity to be part of an exceptional international team.
  • A flexible work setting; either at our expanding office in Rijswijk or at home.
  • The opportunity to learn, excel in your profession and develop. We will support your education and growth with a yearly budget, and you’ll have extensive freedom for your own ideas and initiatives.
  • We provide lunch and on Fridays we order food from one of our favorite local restaurants to the office.
  • We cover your travel expenses and offer a bike plan.
  • We ensure you have relaxing downtime too. If you work a 40-hour week, you’ll have 24 vacation days, and we will offer you the opportunity to work remotely for 2 weeks per year.
  • We take care of your retirement savings as well, and Helin contributes half of the amount.

About you

Honestly, we don't even need to define this role for you. You live and breathe it. What resonates with our team is someone who’s self-sufficient, detail-oriented, structured, and an excellent sounding board. You have thorough knowledge of data engineering principles and techniques such as SQL (NoSQL is an advantage), Python, and Big Data technologies (Apache Spark, Confluent Kafka). More importantly, you are notable for your problem-solving ability and analytical skills. You are technically resourceful, curious, and keen to learn. You may not know something (yet), but when needed, you'll figure it out quickly.

Furthermore, you:

  • Have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a data engineering role or equivalent.
  • Are a resident of The Netherlands and possess a permanent work permit (we do not sponsor visas or relocating).
  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Robotics or Automation Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or equivalent.
  • Have exceptional English communication and people skills, capable of conveying complex information to both expert and non-expert stakeholders.
  • Having an affinity with Docker, Azure, and Linux and experience in a fast-growing, international scale-up environment would be fantastic.
