As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll support our clients by taking the lead on their projects, guiding more junior data engineers in Clarkston's analytics team, assisting in defining client solutions, and helping manage the delivery of these solutions.

Moreover, as a Senior Data Engineer at Clarkston, you will also:

• Assist our solution architects, software developers, data analysts, and data scientists in data and analytics initiatives.
• Ensure the consistency of optimal data delivery architecture across ongoing projects.
• Capably support the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products independently.
• Be enthusiastic about the prospect of enhancing our company’s data engineering capabilities to support the next generation of products and data initiatives.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a data engineering team in creating, maintaining, and monitoring data solutions for clients.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

An ideal Senior Data Engineer candidate would have experience in:

• Compiling large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
• Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements such as automating manual procedures, optimizing data delivery, restructuring infrastructure for better scalability, etc.
• Utilizing the right infrastructure necessary for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from diverse data sources using SQL and 'big data' technologies.
• Creating analytics tools that make use of the data pipeline to offer actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
• Collaborating with stakeholders, including the Product, Data and Design teams, to address data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure requirements.

More Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role.
• Advanced working knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases, writing queries (SQL), along with a working familiarity with various databases.
• Experience in building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architecture, and datasets.
• Experience in performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and spot opportunities for enhancement.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
• Experience in developing processes in support of data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
• A track record of success in manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
• Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
• Experience in supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience with big data tools, including Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, Airflow, and Kafka.
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud services.
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages, such as Scala, Python, Java, and/or C++.
• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or a similar field.

Travel Requirement

Travel is a key part of this role, and it's anticipated to average 20-30%. This percentage might fluctuate based on client and project requirements. When not travelling, consultants work from their home office. Relocation is not necessary.
