Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer at Coupang, you will:

1. Collaborate with various stakeholders and Program Managers to design data engineering systems, develop deployment plans, and maintain quality through system monitoring.
2. Define core data models and build reliable data pipelines using Spark, Streaming, Hive, and other distributed processing technologies to handle large data volumes efficiently.
3. Mentor and foster industry best practices in data architecture, big data platforms, storage, and coding standards among team members.
4. Maintain high technical standards for your domain, troubleshoot existing systems, and systematically improve legacy systems by developing roadmaps for enhancement.

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience with a strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, data pipelines, and data warehousing.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Hive, and experience in handling large data volumes in distributed environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Computing platforms, including a solid understanding of scalability and reliability issues.
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Knowledge of NoSQL Databases like RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server), HBase, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Cassandra.
• Experience in designing and operating data pipelines in cloud environments such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Airflow, Hive, and Hadoop for service development and operation.
• Understanding or experience with CI/CD practices in MSA environments.
• Experience in building and managing API failure management and monitoring systems.
