The Role:

We're looking for a talented Senior Data Engineer to enhance our data operations. This role will have you working from anywhere in Canada (Ontarians preferred), directly under the guidance of our Engineering Manager. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and ensuring the performance of our extensive data pipeline systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines using Java, PHP, and Python.
  • Optimize data systems for enhanced performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with various teams to integrate systems and facilitate data flow.
  • Ensure the integrity of data processing and analysis, and address any issues promptly.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gauge data requirements, crafting effective storage and retrieval processes.
  • Tune and maintain databases, advocating for best practices in resource allocation.
  • Document all data-related procedures, ensuring clarity and continuity.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies within the data engineering landscape.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant data or software engineering experience.
  • Expertise in Java, Python, or PHP, with additional experience in RabbitMQ and/or Kafka.
  • Proficient with both SQL and NoSQL databases, alongside strong data modeling skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • A proactive team player who is also effective independently.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and adaptation in a dynamic field.
