About the Role: Senior Data Engineer

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will lead all technical aspects of data engineering projects while collaborating closely with solution architects to ensure the integrity and consistency of end-to-end technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the solutions developed and deployed are fit for purpose and meet business requirements.
  • Adhering to quality standards and delivering value within cost constraints.
  • Following the agreed change process for all developments.
  • Collaborating with security architecture to gain full approvals for solutions.
  • Providing input into project and resource plans and supporting business case production.
  • Working within an agile methodology framework.
  • Overseeing solution development, including implementation engagement as needed.
  • Applying knowledge of technology options and surveying the external market landscape for solution insights.
  • Identifying issues and risks, and leading their resolution as required.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in existing services.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualifications or significant business/work experience.
  • Experience with API and RESTful micro-services.
  • Proficiency in JVM-based languages such as Java and frameworks like Spring Boot.
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms, especially Azure; knowledge of AWS and GCP is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Linux & AWS CLI scripting and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD automation.
  • Experience with NoSQL Database Technologies such as MongoDB.
  • Familiarity with CDC and streaming technologies like Qlik Replicate & Kafka.
  • Understanding of basic data architecture principles, including solutioning and ETL experience and containerization.
  • Knowledge of database structures such as relational and dimensional modelling and design.
  • Experience in designing and developing streaming services and APIs.
  • Team Leadership experience.
