Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with specialty in Big Data Cloud technologies to design, support, and develop advanced Big Data solutions at Aviva. As a key member of our team, you'll work on the Aviva Data Platform, transforming high-level requirements into robust technical solutions and delivering high-quality results within set timeframes.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage ETL processes utilizing cutting-edge Big Data technologies.
• Ensure all processes are coherent, efficient, and aligned with our data architecture strategies.
• Collaborate with design and analysis teams to conceptualize solutions that meet business objectives effectively.
• Deliver technical solutions in line with high-level design through various methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
• Identify and implement necessary improvements to existing Big Data infrastructures.
• Monitor ETL job performance and initiate enhancements proactively.
• Engage with business and technical experts to solve complex requirements.

What We Look For

Required Skills:

• Minimum 5 years in data engineering, data modeling, or similar roles.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala/Java, SQL, and Snowflake technologies.
• Experienced with AWS Cloud tools such as EMR, S3, SQS, Lambda, Redshift, Glue, Kinesis, Hadoop, and Spark.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and self-management capabilities.
• Capability to assimilate varied technical and business knowledge to devise practical solutions.

Desirable: Understanding of financial services industry.
