Job Description

Rest is enhancing its data platform capabilities and transitioning to a modern cloud platform. We're building a completely new pipeline that covers ingestion, integration, semantic and application-specific layers with comprehensive data quality governance. In this role, you can sharpen your design, engineering, and stakeholder management skills.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Work with a variety of cross-functional teams (including Analytics, Architecture, Information Security, Data Governance, and business teams) to design, develop and implement secure and stable data solutions that address the business needs.
- Design, develop and implement end-to-end data pipelines using on-premise and cloud-based platforms such as Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, AWS CloudFormation and Python
- Collaborate with the Data Engineering Lead to design, develop and maintain the Rest data model
- Work with the Data Engineering Lead to uphold and enhance high quality coding standards and data integration patterns using modern design/development principles. Develop and implement data modelling standards and best practices for performance.
- Provide oversight and domain expertise to the cross-functional data and insights product team to ensure the delivery of outcomes aligned with the data platform
- Document and maintain data solutions and help the team improve overall documentation standards
- Contribute to, and enhance, knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team, with partners and across the organisation.
- Update job knowledge by researching new data management technologies and products; participate in learning and development opportunities
- Compliance and standards: Adhere to organisational principles and guidelines, making sure the solutions delivered are resilient, scalable, and consistent with Rest's existing framework.
- Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement, align with the overall analytics strategy, and implement changes.
- Actively participate and contribute to the Data Engineering Community of Practice
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in an Information Technology or related field
Required experience, understanding or credentials include:
- Significant experience in a similar data engineering role
- Significant experience in building end-to-end data pipelines using on-premise and cloud-based data platforms
- Excellent logical and physical data modelling skills as well as extensive experience in efficient SQL development and query performance & tuning
- Solid working knowledge of Data Warehouses, AWS, DBT and Python
- Working knowledge of Unix shell scripting
- Knowledge of relational and big data architectures, data warehousing, data integration, data modelling, data optimisation and data analysis techniques
- Understanding and appreciation of data management and data governance best practices
- A passion for technology, process improvement and implementing new ways of working
- A strong analytical thinker and problem solver with a positive attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in an Agile environment
