The Ministry of Defence is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their team in Andover. This is a hybrid role and candidates must be willing to start in the office, transitioning to about 1 day per week on site once they are settled in the role. Initial contracts will last until February 25, 2024, and offer a daily rate of up to £700 maximum. IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This position has been evaluated by the public entity as falling within the IR35 legislation. Candidates will be expected to work through an umbrella company for this assignment. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: November 10, 2023, at 10:00. This job necessitates having an active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants need to have active SC clearance, or be willing to undergo the clearance process before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be favoured. The Role The project you will be involved in seeks to enhance the detail and richness of the demand signal by constructing activity stacks from a bottom-up, event level perspective. Eight stacks have thus far been created, with three more in progress. This provides a more detailed event level forecast, allowing for a more precise and informed support solution. The stacks are constructed from manual "data cuts" from various existing applications and sources. Automating this process from the data perspective is needed due to its time-consuming nature, allowing for the capture of a full range of equipment. The automation of data feeds from OPUS/Churchill/TAFMIS is already in progress. Once the data feeds are automatically loaded into Veritas through the ADW, there will be a need to verify the data feeds and ensure that Veritas has been properly configured against the existing manual A&RP Evolve process. This will be followed by a comparison of the automated data against the manual activity stacks to identify any missing or ambiguous data in the automated feeds. A Senior Data Engineer is required to aid in the completion of this task. Skills and Experience - Familiarity with MOD IT systems is critical, for example, JAMES, Fd Army IX applications. - CHURCHILL, TAFMIS, and OPUS. - Track record in data analysis & manipulation. - Prior experience interacting with Army HQ. - Knowledge of equipment support planning within the Army is highly beneficial. Candidate Eligibility Candidates must be able to work in the UK, visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Tier 2 – General visas will not be accepted. Candidates must be willing to undergo the BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland) for this role.
