Job Description

Nine is looking to hire a Data Engineer to join its Product and Technology data team to continue leveraging data as a competitive edge. As a Data Engineer, you will collaborate with key stakeholders in developing high-performing data products and simplifying our data systems and data models. You will assist stakeholders in using data to invent innovative solutions for our business, especially in the data commercialisation sphere.

Day by day you'll be dealing with sales data across multiple platforms - consider ad sales and revenue. You'll be part of a team working on our core commercial data capability, pushing system improvement ahead of the 2024 Olympics.

This is a 12 Month Fixed-term contract.  

Every day you can expect to

  • Design and implement data pipelines and data processing frameworks at petabyte scale using Google Cloud, Apache Airflow, BigQuery and other cutting-edge tools.
  • Forge solutions that enable reporting specialists, analysts and super-users by presenting consumption-focused dimensional data models and data products / visualisations.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams, Vendors and Business Stakeholders to contribute to the continuous enhancement of data products, processes and systems.
  • Supply data on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new tool sets - we aren't scared to experiment!
  • Mentor new or associate data engineers on solution design, data frameworks and technologies.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the media and technology industry and stimulate discussion.
  • Ensure deliveries are current with the latest technologies.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a Data Engineering role with a strong knowledge and application of SQL and Python used on Cloud Platform, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience in designing data processing frameworks in Airflow and setting up DAGs
  • Experience with data analytics and reporting tools like Tableau and Data Studio
  • Experience in solution design, best practices and implementation
  • Solid understanding of database structures, theories, principles & practices
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, Version Control like Github or Bitbucket
