Senior Data Engineer The Opportunity: As a big data engineer at Booz Allen, you'll carry out data engineering tasks on some of the industry's most mission-critical projects. You'll deploy and build pipelines and platforms that collate and make disparate data meaningful. Here, you'll lead and work alongside a multidisciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. You'll utilize your experience in analytical exploration and data inspection while you oversee the evaluation, design, construction, and maintenance of scalable platforms for your clients. You Have: 10+ years of experience in application development 10+ years of experience designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications at enterprise scale 10+ years of experience designing, developing, building, analyzing, evaluating, and installing database management systems including database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management Experience developing scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats and supporting the project team to scale, monitor and operate data platforms Experience using data mapping, data mining, and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases Experience preparing system requirements, source analysis, and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation Experience evaluating sizes and choosing technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and application databases Experience with Python, SQL, Scala, or Java TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph Bachelor’s degree Nice If You Have: Experience with UNIX and Linux, including basic commands and Shell scripting Experience with cloud computing such as AWS and Microsoft Azure Experience with distributed data and computing tools including Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka Experience with NoSQL implementation, including MongoDB or Cassandra Experience with data warehousing using AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake Experience with Agile engineering practices Master's degree preferred; Doctorate degree a plus Clearance: Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
