Job Description: Our Enterprise Technology and System Integration team at KPMG leverages intelligent automation, data engineering, and software integration to help our clients align their technological capabilities with strategic and operational goals. Using KPMG’s extensive national and global resources, we adopt a multidisciplinary approach to maximize the impact of existing and new technology investments.

We are looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Data Migration team. The successful candidate will develop ETLs on Azure Synapse, facilitating data migration from customers' on-premise applications to new SaaS-based systems. This role requires expertise in ETL processes, Azure Data Factory / Synapse, excellent problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills.

Your New Opportunity

As a key member of our Technology and System Integration team, the Senior Data Migration Engineer will:

• Work with functional experts to understand data migration requirements and translate them into data engineering and data analytics functionality.
• Design and implement data integrations, pipelines, and algorithms to extract and transform data from various sources into a format ready for target systems.
• Develop data profiling tools to analyze and understand the structure, quality, and integrity of data before migration.
• Implement reconciliation reports to verify and validate data accuracy post-migration, identifying discrepancies and ensuring consistency between source and target systems.
• Aid in scoping, estimation, and task planning for assigned projects.
• Test ETL processes and data profiling tools, debug issues, and refine operations based on feedback and requirements.
• Document ETL processes, data profiling methods, and reconciliation procedures to maintain clear and accessible records for future reference and compliance.
• Stay current with the latest tools, technologies, and best practices in data engineering to continuously improve work quality and efficiency.

Your Experience

• Proven experience in ETL development with Azure Synapse or Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Database.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies.
• Comfortable working in an Agile environment and using Scrum project management.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues during the migration process and optimize data workflows.
• High attention to detail to accurately implement ETL processes and generate precise reconciliation reports.
• Experience building ETL solutions against COTS or SaaS-based applications such as TechnologyOne, SAP, Oracle ERP, or Microsoft Dynamics is desirable.
