As Nextdoor’s Core Product Data Science Lead, you will take ownership of the data strategy and execution across all of Nextdoor’s core product areas. As a crucial member of the senior leadership team, you will drive the overall company strategy, focusing on enhancing product-led user engagement through strategic data insights and close collaboration with cross-functional teams. Your team will spearhead initiatives to develop advanced models that analyze user engagement, decipher causal relationships, improve feed relevancy, and explore new user ecosystems. Your role is pivotal to propelling the company’s growth and success.
Our Data Scientists design and oversee product experiments, conduct complex analyses to drive company and product strategy, and deploy models in both online and offline production environments. Utilizing a semi-embedded team structure, data team members work directly with product and engineering stakeholders on specific products or pillars. The Data Science group at Nextdoor features individuals from diverse fields such as psychology, geology, physics, computer science, and statistics. We are the mathematical decision scientists for product development and play an active, collaborative role in improving the product.
In this role, you’ll lead the development, communication, and execution of our data strategy across Nextdoor’s core product areas. Your experience with engagement data and exceptional people management and communication skills will be crucial. The individual in this role has the potential to fundamentally change the trajectory of Nextdoor’s business. Additionally, you will help grow, mentor, and develop our data science team, fostering a culture of learning where diverse voices are heard and respected.
Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package. The starting salary for this role ranges from $200,000 to $260,000 annually, potentially higher depending on your proficiency and geographic location. We also anticipate awarding a meaningful equity grant for this role, with equal quarterly vesting starting within the first three months of your start date. Total compensation will vary based on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
