Role Overview: Senior Data Science Manager

The Data Science team at Coinbase is integral to our product and decision-making processes. We collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to influence roadmaps and gain a deeper understanding of our users through advanced analytics, experimentation, and modeling. We drive insights and decisions that directly impact our company’s bottom line.

We're searching for an experienced manager to lead our Wallet data science team. This fast-growing area of our business is crucial to our mission of bringing one billion people onchain. You will work with your team to develop strategies, support an experimentation culture, and maintain rigorous analytical standards.

Your Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists and establish strong working partnerships with product teams.
• Act as a strategic thought partner to product teams and Coinbase executives; lead the team in executing data-based analyses.
• Standardize best practices for analysis, modeling, and experimentation; develop scalable processes to solve pain points and meet goals.
• Design communication structures and synthesize data learnings into compelling stories to communicate within Coinbase.
• Own business metrics for performance management and drive initiatives to enhance our insights through better systems and automation.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in business, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a hands-on leader of a high-performing data science/analytics team.
• 10+ years of experience in providing business insights and driving data science initiatives.
• Proficiency in internal and external storytelling and executive presentations.
• Experience overseeing large, complex, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Expertise with analytics tools, data visualization, SQL, R, or Python.
• Deep knowledge of data models and experimental design and execution.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex insights to various stakeholders.

• Self-driven and capable of creating plans for analytics projects and fostering team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience in building causal inference models and overseeing synthetic experimentation.
• Domain experience in Fintech product and growth areas.
• Experience handling large quantities of structured and unstructured data.

Pay Range: $236,725—$278,500 USD

Full-time offers include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
