About the Role

Join our global Product Analytics and Experimentation team, where we are obsessed with optimizing user experience! The Shop and Book Product Analytics team leverages data to enhance the customer experience across all Expedia Brands' shopping paths.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver impressive features to our customers. This senior-level individual contributor role partners with teams in product, data, engineering, strategy, finance, and other analytics groups to enhance product performance. Key responsibilities include optimizing experimentation strategies, identifying new success metrics, sizing opportunities, and applying advanced analytics methods to drive new test hypotheses.

What You Will Do

• Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, ML programming, and data visualization to improve customer experience.
• Design and execute complex experiments (A/B tests, Pre-Post, Interleaving), and recommend new features for testing.
• Collaborate across the analytics community to integrate new metrics and methodologies into our experimentation culture.
• Lead strategic projects within the shopping experience to support goal setting, opportunity sizing, and product performance review, ultimately aligning with the 2025 EG product strategy.
• Manage product analytics projects, share findings and methodologies within a community of analysts.
• Provide prescriptive and predictive insights, leading by example and coaching junior analysts.
• Influence action and results through clear, engaging writing and structured presentations.

Who You Are

• Excellent logical thinking with a strong background in a quantitative field (Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, operations research, data science or similar) and 6+ years of industry experience.
• Expert in Python, Scala, R, or any other major ML programming language.
• Proficient in statistical analysis, segmentation, computational systems, optimization techniques, and interpreting ML models such as propensity modeling and forecasting.
• High-performing, influential individual contributor with experience leading complex projects and mentoring junior data scientists.
• Creative, analytical thinker passionate about data.
• Excellent verbal, written, and data visualization skills.
• Ability to manage projects with different functions, prioritize demands, and navigate ambiguity comfortably.

Compensation and Benefits

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $173,000 to $242,500. Employees have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000, based on ongoing performance. Starting pay will vary based on multiple factors, including location, budget, and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
