Team Overview

The AI Foundations Specialist Models Data Science team develops and deploys state-of-the-art scalable architecture and AI/ML solutions for Capital One’s acclaimed mobile app. Collaborating with product, tech, and design teams, we create features that delight our customers with dynamic, personalized experiences, digital assistant interactions, and useful searches. Your contribution will drive innovation and next-generation experiences powered by cutting-edge generative AI technologies.

Role and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that improve customer financial interactions.
• Utilize a diverse technology stack—Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, LangChain, Lightning, VectorDBs, and more—to uncover insights from vast amounts of numeric and textual data.
• Specialize in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) for customer-facing applications.
• Develop machine learning and NLP models from design through to implementation, partnering with engineering to operationalize them in scalable productions systems serving over 80 million customers.
• Translate complex concepts into actionable business objectives with strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in data analytics, or in the process of obtaining Master’s or PhD.
• At least 1 year of experience with open-source programming languages for large-scale data analysis.
• At least 1 year of machine learning experience.
• At least 1 year of experience with relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in a STEM field plus 3 years of data analytics experience, or a PhD in a STEM field.
• At least 1 year of AWS experience.
• At least 2 years’ experience with Python, PyTorch, Scala, or R.
• At least 2 years’ experience with machine learning and SQL.
• At least 2 years’ experience in natural language processing.

The annual salary range for this role, depending on location, is as follows:

• New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $133,200 - $152,000 for Data Science Masters
• San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-site): $141,100 - $161,000 for Data Science Masters

Salaries for part-time roles will be adjusted based on the number of hours worked.
