About the Role

The Analytics team's mission is to leverage data and experimentation to advance product innovation. We thrive on building innovative products, testing them, and iterating swiftly to provide the best solutions for our customers. Our team handles multiple product shipments every week, requiring us to refine models and run numerous experiments regularly. We seek experienced data scientists to establish a data excellence center for Product & Experimentation across diverse tech domains.

Key Responsibilities

You will collaborate with various teams within the business line (Product, Business, Engineering, Design, and Data Science) to understand data requirements, track key metrics, and provide data-driven insights. Your role involves guiding a data-first approach to product thinking, designing controlled experiments, and objectively evaluating results while working with stakeholders to evaluate innovative product and business ideas.

The Day-to-Day Activities

  • Understand business objectives and delve deep into existing data to recommend new product ideas for solving impactful customer problems.
  • Identify data trends, spot anomalies, and explore their root causes.
  • Utilize and present data through visualization techniques, building dashboards, and communicating insights to a non-technical audience.
  • Align with stakeholders on key product metrics and propose experimentation strategies.
  • Launch A/B tests, analyze results, and recommend improvements.
  • Design and manage frontend and backend data specs for new products in collaboration with engineering teams to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for product reporting requirements.
  • Mentor junior team members in their professional development.
  • Identify and generalize frequently occurring hypotheses into scalable analytical frameworks.
  • Ensure high standards of measurement, experimentation, analysis, and recommendation practices.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of new products and participate in user research to validate customer problems.

Qualifications

The Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in data-related or quantitative fields such as Analytics and Applied Data Science.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages for problem-solving.
  • Strong skills in data visualization and storytelling, with experience in creating dashboards using Tableau or similar tools. Knowledge of the Azure tool stack is a plus.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present complex subjects clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to learn independently.
  • Ability to deliver on tight timelines, working efficiently with cross-functional teams to lead decision-making processes while maintaining high attention to detail.

The Nice-to-Haves

  • Relevant industry experience, especially in Internet or Direct-to-Consumer companies with high-velocity data and scaled experiments.
  • Experience in product management or business-facing operations.
  • Experience with designing and executing controlled A/B experiments.
  • Familiarity with supervised (predictive modeling) and unsupervised (clustering, segmentation) ML algorithms.
