About the Navigation Team

The Navigation team, part of Asana's Growth pillar within the R&D organization, ensures that users can easily find what they need in Asana through core navigational elements, search, teams, and more.

Job Location

This role is based in our Vancouver office with a hybrid office-centric schedule:

  • In-office days: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
  • Work-from-home options: Wednesday (most roles) and Friday (role-dependent)

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Scientist in the Engage Area, you'll achieve the following:

  • Design and analyze experiments to ship impactful product changes.
  • Define and deploy new success metrics for product teams.
  • Create strategic data analyses to inform future product directions.
  • Build models to identify product opportunities and enhance company metrics.
  • Develop new datasets and experimentation metrics to improve decision-making.
  • Collaborate with teams for seamless rollouts of navigational changes.
  • Influence product decisions and roadmaps through data-driven insights.
  • Mentor junior data scientists to drive business results.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of experience in applying data science techniques to drive product development and decision-making.

Technical Skills

  • Solid technical background in statistics, math, computer science, or a quantitative field.
  • Fluency in data processing and programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala), relational data modeling, SQL.
  • Familiarity with distributed data processing systems (e.g., Spark, Redshift).
  • Expertise in statistical methods, experimental design, and analysis.

Soft Skills

  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and leaders across various teams.
