Your Role

As a pivotal member of the ZEISS Enterprise Data & Analytics team, you will shape the digital future and drive success through data science in the realm of Industrial Applications within our manufacturing units. Working closely with manufacturing teams, you will handle complex IoT data including measurement data, sensor signals, and machine parameters. Your mission will be to tackle challenging issues, find optimization opportunities, and transform business needs into sophisticated technical solutions. From exploratory analysis to deploying operational solutions, your impact will be felt across the board. You will also engage in knowledge sharing within our vibrant machine learning community at ZEISS.

Your Profile

We are looking for candidates with an outstanding university degree (PhD preferred) in Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. You should have at least 5 years of professional Data Science experience in an industrial setting or an equivalent combination of PhD/research and professional experience. A deep knowledge of data analytics, machine learning and their applications in areas like sensor time-series, IoT, digital twins, and Industry 4.0 is essential. Experience in manufacturing processes, such as production planning, quality control, and logistics, along with a familiarity with optics and photolithography, is advantageous.

Expertise in model development and deployment tools like Azure Machine Learning Service or MLflow, and a strong background in software development (Python, git, Azure DevOps) are crucial. We value individuals who are capable of understanding customer needs, solving complex problems, and effectively communicating technical details. Strong strategic thinking, a results-driven attitude, and fluency in English and advanced German are required.
