As a Senior Data Scientist - Microsoft Azure, your role will involve crafting sampling experiments and conducting in-depth analysis to pinpoint behavior tendencies within Azure's mainstream server fleet. Understand and intervene in fleet health using statistical inference, analyze workload similarities, and improve anomaly detection through advanced telemetry techniques. Work alongside top-tier software and machine learning engineers to refine Azure offerings and enrich customer experiences, gaining invaluable insights into hyperscale cloud computing from our base in Redmond, WA.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Define experimental methodology to ensure health and performance consistency across server fleets.
  • Utilize statistical methods to select benchmarks that reflect authentic workload behaviors.
  • Develop anomaly detection methods to identify hardware or configuration issues.
  • Enhance operational efficiency and user satisfaction through predictive modeling and statistical analysis.
  • Create and manage insightful dashunits, data visualizations, and comprehensive reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Computer Science or a related field and at least 1 year of data science experience; OR Master's degree and 3 years of experience; OR Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience.
  • Proven ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, which include passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field combined with extensive data science experience.
  • Customer-facing project delivery or consulting experience, particularly within the cloud computing industry.
  • Proficiency in Kusto, Python, and R.
