Job Description

Are you passionate about crafting solutions that make a significant difference within an organization? We are eager to welcome an energetic and self-motivated individual to our robust team of Data / Database Engineers. Our mission is accelerating the adoption of data and database engineering solutions throughout Manulife, focusing on cloud-based solutions, security, and best practices.

What You Will Do

As a vital contributor to our community-driven projects, you will be removing roadblocks, empowering teams with advanced technology solutions, adhering to top-notch security standards, and promoting industry best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

We are not confined to a specific set of skills; however, an ideal candidate would likely display expertise in areas like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
  • 2-5+ years in architecting scalable distributed systems and data engineering.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with database technologies such as Azure SQL, MongoDB Atlas, Cosmos DB, or Oracle.
  • Proficiency in automated deployments and CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or Git Actions.
  • Strong capabilities in Infrastructure as Code, cloud learning through experimentation, and developing modern applications in languages like Java, Python, .Net.
  • Excellent collaborative skills for code management in systems such as Git or Bitbucket.

A proactive, solution-focused, and collaborative problem-solving attitude is essential, along with a customer-centric mindset. While not mandatory, a sense of humor is always an asset!
