Overview

At Nanyang Technological University (NTU), we are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Engineer for our Data Services team. This role is pivotal in supporting the continuous delivery of high-quality services, ensuring system reliability, and facilitating access to data services crucial for our diverse business systems.

Key Responsibilities

Your role as a Senior Engineer, Data Services, will involve:

• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for data services-related products such as Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, WebLogic, and more.
• Managing the daily Business-As-Usual operation of database and middleware-related services.
• Providing Level 2/3 support and performing routine monitoring to ensure service availability and performance.
• Implementing automation scripts with tools like PowerShell, Ansible, and Python to optimize deployment processes.
• Leading database and middleware security practices, including the application of ad-hardware security patches.
• Coordinating with application support teams and other functional groups to manage scheduled downtimes, patching, and upgrades.
• Driving data services initiatives, managing project deliverables, and leading migration projects to new platforms.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

• A recognized degree in IT, Computer Science, or related fields.
• At least 6 years of hands-on experience in both database and middleware administration in large-scale environments.
• Proficiency in high availability technologies and DevOps practices, including scripting in PowerShell, Ansible, Python, etc.
• Strong skills in project management and vendor management.
• Excellent documentation capabilities to create clear and comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Additional certifications in Data, Analytics, Cloud Administration, Database Certification, or ITIL are advantageous but not required.
