Job Description: Senior Financial Business Analyst - Business Intelligence & Financial Planning and Analysis

Major Duties

As a Senior Business Analyst BI & FP&A, you will develop effective and efficient business models and tools to aid in operational analysis, introduce continuous improvements to budgeting and forecasting processes, and support the integration of financial information systems across various departments. You will provide operational support to system users, participate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of financial and operational systems projects, and coordinate activities between Finance, IT, Applications, and Program Management users.

Specific Responsibilities

Operational Support

  • Implement ABM continuous improvement initiatives in finance processes.
  • Develop business models, key indicators, and benchmarks to support decision-making.
  • Identify and prioritize functional and technical needs and requirements.
  • Analyze large data sets using SQL and Excel.
  • Review and improve existing systems' effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Compile data visualizations like charts and tables.
  • Understand business strategies, goals, and requirements.
  • Plan enterprise architecture and perform financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define, validate, and prioritize system requirements.
  • Lead design sessions to enhance business processes and information flow.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts for system direction.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews.
  • Provide orientation and training on modified and new systems.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to identify cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
  • Assist with the accounting system upgrade and develop specific financial analyses.

Financial Reporting and Accounting

  • Support the annual planning process at the program level.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly/monthly program forecasts.
  • Create and manage detailed project information for program management.
  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to policies and procedures within the division.
  • Review policies with Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance, to develop best practices.
  • Assess business risk areas and develop policies to minimize or eliminate risks.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.

Qualifications

Education: A university degree or college diploma in business/accounting or equivalent business experience is required. Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA) is also necessary.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of business analyst experience, preferably in job shop manufacturing or construction environment using the percentage of completion method of accounting. Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably JD Edwards) and Excel is required. Tableau experience is a plus. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong analytical skills, financial reporting, and continuous improvement orientation are key. Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines consistently.
