Senior GIS Solution Manager

Position Summary

Join the Rainforest Alliance as our Senior GIS Solution Manager to harness advanced technology and drive impactful research and development in GIS and remote sensing. Reporting to the GIS Manager, you will spearhead new GIS initiatives aligned with our 2030 sustainability vision, working closely with educational institutions, government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of significant research initiatives in Remote Sensing and GIS, focusing on crucial environmental challenges.
• Develop sophisticated GIS models using AI and ML for water quality, forest monitoring, land use, soil analysis, and climate impact assessments.
• Ensure alignment of GIS projects with global sustainability goals from RA, EU, and UN, including developing program strategies, grant applications, and budget proposals.
• Integrate advanced methodologies to enhance research accuracy and relevance.
• Conduct and direct fieldwork data collection and analysis to support GIS model development.
• Collaborate with educational programs and institutions to develop GIS-related environmental programs and training materials.
• Promote a culture of excellence, quality, and collaboration within engineering teams.
• Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders to align them with the GIS delivery roadmap and strategy.

Role Requirements

• Master’s degree in Geographic Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; a PhD is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience leading GIS development and operations.
• At least 5 years of management experience in an international GIS environment.
• Proven experience in remote sensing software such as ENVI, SNAP, and ERDAS.
• Strong skills in GIS platforms, including ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Proficiency in programming and data analysis tools like MATLAB, Python, R, and SQL.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong analytical and spatial statistics skills.
