Context of the Position

The Business Line Applications at ASML delivers integrated solutions utilizing computational, metrology, and control technologies, enhancing the performance of lithography products for the semiconductor industry. This opening is within the Development & Engineering (D&E) sector, responsible for specifying, designing, and developing new ASML products.

Within D&E Applications, our Image Processing & Machine Learning Group pioneers the development of novel metrology methods, leveraging numerical data-driven methods and physics knowledge. The team identifies, designs, and implements new metrics, machine learning algorithms, and measurement functions with optimal performance using raw data acquisitions.

Positioned between research and product development, our group contributes to inventing new ASML methods, offers state-of-the-art expertise, and solidifies ASML's competency in Image Processing and Machine Learning.

Job Description

  • Drive and propose machine-learning models, image processing algorithms, and optimization techniques to enhance optical semiconductor metrology beyond resolution limits.
  • Implement machine learning and deep learning metrology applications with scalable data-intensive and distributed software architectures, collaborating with data science, functional, and software groups.
  • Design and realize end-to-end subsystems, balancing system specifications, costs, and project timelines to contribute to global ASML products.
  • Act as a senior engineer guiding R&D of advanced methods at the intersection of metrology data and physical knowledge, mentoring junior team members.
  • Collaborate with ASML's Research department and on-product applications groups to contribute to the invention of new ASML products.
  • Contribute to technical and competence roadmaps for Image Processing and Machine Learning across ASML.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in your field of expertise.
  • Generate patents to protect ASML products.

Job Requirements and Personal Skills

  • 5-8 years’ experience in Image or Signal Processing and Machine Learning.
  • Familiarity with geometric and wave optics, electromagnetic simulations, photonics, or microscopy.
  • Ability to clearly explain complex physical models and algorithms.
  • Creative solution-oriented mindset with a focus on products and customers.
  • Decisive and proactive in ambiguous environments with a result-focused attitude.
  • Proficiency in Python, Julia, MATLAB, or C++, and awareness of software compatibility.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks like JAX, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
  • Code development experience in a cloud environment.
  • Affinity with data-intensive and distributed software architecture for metrology applications.
  • Lead author in relevant leading conferences/journals (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, BMVC, ICML, JMLR, IJCV).
  • Active participation in online competitions such as Kaggle.
