Job Description

Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Data Scientist with 6-8 years of expertise to uncover hidden insights within vast amounts of data, aiding in smarter decision-making for superior product development. Your main responsibility will be applying data mining techniques, performing statistical analysis, and building top-quality predictive systems integrated with our products.

Objectives of this Role

• Support Business Operations by providing efficient solutions to business problems.
• Research and devise innovative statistical models for data analysis.
• Collaborate with operations, product design, and engineering teams to understand needs.
• Communicate findings to all stakeholders.
• Enhance business processes through analytics for meaningful insights.
• Stay current with technical and industry developments.

Responsibilities

• Create automated anomaly detection systems and continuously track their performance.
• Identify and integrate new datasets to leverage product capabilities as a lead data strategist.
• Collaborate with software developers and machine-learning engineers to implement analytical models in production.
• Build scalable machine learning pipelines using feature engineering and optimization methods to improve dataset performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data science.
• End-to-end development and deployment of statistical models from data gathering to user application.
• Hands-on experience in AI/ML model development using various algorithms such as Regression, Classification, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and NLP.
• Strong business intuition to understand and solve stakeholder problems.
• Expertise in statistical analysis for pattern and anomaly detection.
• Proficiency in machine learning algorithms and models for data mining and error analysis.
• Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, SQL, and programming languages (e.g., Java/Python, SAS).
• Experience with data science toolkits such as R, Weka, NumPy, MATLAB, etc.; excellence in at least one is highly desirable.
• Ability to communicate actionable insights using data to a non-technical audience.
• Critical thinking, inquisitiveness, and strong interpersonal skills.

Educational Qualifications/Additional Skills

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in statistics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience in Generative AI modeling is an added advantage.
• Professional certification is preferred.
