What You Will Do:
- Work with a team of machine learning scientists and engineers to develop natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning solutions for precision medicine.
- Research, develop, train, test, classify, monitor, and improve NLP and machine learning models for information extraction, relation extraction, text classification, clinical prediction, and imputation.
- Work with large unstructured datasets of clinical reports and notes as well as structured electronic health record (EHR) datasets.
- Collaborate with team members, stakeholders, product, science, and engineering teams to develop the most sophisticated machine learning solutions in precision medicine.
- Engage in user-centered design with customers and stakeholders to create high-impact machine learning systems.
- Document, summarize, and present your work to peers and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD, Master's degree with over 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with over 5 years of experience in a numeric discipline like computer science, machine learning, statistics, natural language processing, biomedical informatics, computational biology, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Pandas, scikit-learn, spaCy, NLTK, or other deep learning and natural language processing frameworks.
- Proficiency in programming and software engineering using Python, Linux, and SQL.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and shift priorities smoothly.
- Proven experience in interpreting insights and presenting concepts to diverse audiences.
- Team player mindset and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in creating production models for text classification, clinical prediction, and other applications.
- Knowledge of BERT, GPT-4, T5 and other transformer models, attention mechanisms, large language models, and word embeddings.
- Familiarity with GCP, Spark, and data warehousing.
- Publications in ACL, AAAI, EMNLP, ICLR, ICML, or comparable.
- Experience in the healthcare domain, especially in oncology.
- Prior work with clinical cancer data.
- Familiarity with EHR data, clinical terminology, and clinical notes.
- Experience with controlled vocabularies and medical ontologies, such as UMLS, SNOMED CT, MeSH, RxNorm, HGNC, NCI Thesaurus.
Remuneration from $140,000 - $180,000 USD may vary based on qualifications and experience and may differ for roles based in California and New York. This position includes a range of comprehensive benefits, including incentive compensation, restricted stock units, and medical benefits.
