We are expanding internationally and are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our team in Australia. This role focuses on developing un-crewed maritime and air domain systems using unsupervised autonomy to deliver long-duration, multi-mission capabilities. Projects include the Extra Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (XL-AUV) Program.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development, integration, and support of machine learning models for perception and data pipelines across various autonomous systems.
- Create software to manage and automate the ML lifecycle, including data management, pipelining, labeling, and training.
- Oversee model selection, training, validation, evaluation, deployment, and regression testing.
- Manage training data sourcing, integration, and quality control.
- Develop tools and processes for machine learning in classified environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective system integration and testing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Senior-level experience in delivering a production-grade software system with a mature ML component.
- Experience with ML operations including data acquisition, labeling, data curation, pipeline management, and continuous integration.
- Collaboration skills with data scientists and stakeholders to implement robust validation and verification strategies.
- Experience in delivering computer vision capabilities and working holistically on ML-enabled capabilities throughout the software stack lifecycle.
- Capacity to learn and mentor effectively, fostering team cohesion and growth.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with public sector customers.
- Proficiency with workflow management tools such as Flyte, Airflow, and Kubeflow.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- Knowledge of edge ML applications and inference engines such as TensorRT.
- Proficiency in programming languages like C++, Go, Python, or Rust.
- Strong data management and traceability techniques to ensure reproducibility.
- Aspirations to grow into a Tech-Lead-Manager role with line management responsibilities.
