Headspace, a leader in mental wellness and technology, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Data Engineering to bolster our Data team within the Technology Organization. This crucial role involves leading a dynamic team of 8 with growth potential, driving cohesive data strategy across multiple data environments, and collaborating with cross-functional business stakeholders in Finance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Products, Data Analysis, Machine Learning, and Data Science.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager in Data Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

• Building strong partnerships with other technology leaders to keep your team on the cutting edge of industry solutions.
• Acting as a data steward to develop and implement a clear technical vision toward high-quality data solutions and architectures while reducing tech debt.
• Leading your team to write well-designed, testable, performant, and efficient code using Apache Spark and Databricks Delta Lake.
• Mentoring and growing your team in designing, building, and maintaining mission-critical data pipelines and products.
• Developing a world-class data lake that meets stringent security, privacy, and compliance requirements in the healthcare industry.
• Demonstrating tenacity, resilience, and leadership to drive cross-functional projects and propose solutions.
• Mentoring other engineers to cultivate a data-driven culture within the company.

Requirements

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience managing engineers of various seniority levels.
• 4+ years of experience in a staff-level engineering role or equivalent technical individual contributor role.
• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Data Engineer, or Architect.
• Proven experience building high-quality data pipelines with comprehensive unit tests and data quality checks.
• Experience leading teams through complex cross-functional projects with clear goals, deliverables, OKRs, and milestones.
• BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong skills in technical and functional stakeholder management, with the ability to distill complexity into understandable concepts.
• 8+ years of experience in big data technologies such as Redshift, S3, Databricks, data lakes, and Spark.
• Experience working with analytics tools like Looker/Tableau/Amplitude/CoreMetrics.

Preferred Skills

• MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record as a technical leader in delivering results and making progress in fast-changing, ambiguous problem spaces.
• Strong ability to articulate, influence, and drive changes across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Pay & Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $160,943-$241,393, determined by factors such as skills, experience, and relevant certifications. Headspace offers a robust Total Rewards package, which includes:
