Role Overview
Is this role right for you? In this position, you will:
- Support project planning and delivery through information and resource coordination, problem and impact analysis, solution proposals, and more.
- Execute and deliver the ESG Data & Analytics Strategy for the Bank, focusing on regulatory commitments like OSFI Climate Risk Return, OSFI B-15, NZBA Facilitated Emissions, and KPMG Audit.
- Provide analytics support to develop Climate Transition Tools for the Bank.
- Support reporting to company leadership and across business divisions and departments.
- Ensure project/program objectives are met on time by managing scheduled milestones.
- Manage multiple project workstreams and ensure end-to-end project delivery, effectively executing Agile methodology and principles.
- Identify, escalate, and remove release and team impediments.
- Manage a team of ESG Data Scientists.
- Conduct data analysis to provide actionable insights to decision-makers in the Bank.
- Present insights in easy-to-understand terms for business or senior management, including data visualization techniques and dashboards.
- Conduct analytical calculations for the yearly Bank’s Climate Report.
- Develop innovative and effective approaches using statistical and predictive modeling techniques to solve analytics problems.
- Stay current on trends in data science and fin-tech products, translating those trends into actionable strategic and tactical objectives.
- Contribute to a culture of curiosity and innovation through presentation, demonstration, and leading by example.
Skills and Experience

- Exceptional stakeholder management across multiple business lines and functions.
- Strong familiarity with ESG/climate concepts, data strategy, and best practices.
- Experience calculating financed emissions.
- Understanding the Scotiabank business, data, and technology ecosystem.
- Regulatory project experience.
- Experience leading Data & Tech delivery teams.
- Strong Project Management and Agile experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Solid analytical and data wrangling skills, comfortable with large amounts of information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Programming skills in Python and/or R.
- Proficiency in query languages such as SQL and HiveQL.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms in R, Python, or Spark.
- Familiarity with visualization tools like Power BI.
- Knowledge of Bank Information Systems, including finance systems, Salesforce, and Enterprise Data Lake, is an asset.
