Our Product Finance, Strategy, and Operations ("Product FSO") team is dedicated to driving growth through new user acquisition and engagement enhancement. By collaborating closely with our product and engineering teams, we analyze growth impacts and trends, while developing and maintaining quarterly and long-term forecasts. Historically strong in reporting and forecasting, we now aim to dig deeper into our data to uncover the “why” and “what” behind our observations.
We are searching for an entrepreneurial and driven Senior Operations Data Scientist to lay the groundwork for our data and analytics initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering, to develop a BI layer and enhance our understanding of critical metrics through causal analysis, data tooling, and dashboarding.
Your Impact
The work of Product FSO is vital for Nextdoor’s growth and success, with frequent opportunities to present insights to senior leadership. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with Finance and Product Development leaders to identify strategic, high-impact analytical problems and innovative solutions.
- Deliver data insights and drive adoption through dashboards, self-serve reporting, memos, and presentations. Analyze data to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.
- Conduct statistical analyses and modeling, including exploratory and causal analyses, to inform key decisions.
- Support performance management by tracking weekly operations and ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting.
- Partner with Analytics Engineering to create a solid data foundation using advanced analysis tools.
- Work closely with data science, product, and engineering teams to improve data robustness and accountability.
- Engage in Nextdoor events, training, volunteer days, and team-building activities to foster in-person connections and contribute to our KIND culture.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
We’re looking for candidates with:
- An advanced degree in a quantitative field and 4+ years’ experience in data science, product analytics, or business intelligence.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to integrate larger business context into data questions and product development.
- Proficiency in architecting, debugging, and executing SQL queries.
- Experience with Looker (preferred) or other BI/visualization tools.
- Knowledge of Python or R, including scientific computing packages like numpy, pandas, and scikit-learn.
- Familiarity with statistical modeling and machine learning methods.
- Experience conducting complex analyses, including experiments, cohort retention studies, and exploratory work.
- Intermediate knowledge of big data technologies such as Hive, Presto, or Spark.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
- A curious, self-starting personality thriving under ambiguity and autonomy.

Rewards
At Nextdoor, we offer a comprehensive rewards package including compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs. The starting salary for this role ranges from $175,000 to $210,000 annually, with potential for higher compensation based on your proficiency. You will also receive a meaningful equity grant with equal quarterly vesting.
Total compensation varies based on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. We cover 100% of your personal monthly premium for health, dental, and vision plans, and provide a OneMedical
