The Role

AssemblyAI is expanding rapidly and is on the lookout for a dedicated Senior Platform Engineer to join our multi-functional team. With strong investment and robust leadership, now is the perfect time to be a part of AssemblyAI.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure Cloud Infrastructure Meets Critical Goals: Focus on the security, reliability, scalability, performance, and profitability of our cloud infrastructure.
• Lead Infrastructure Efforts: Assist in architecting, designing, implementing, and testing new infrastructure for our internal developer platform to help our team deliver high-quality software efficiently.
• Support Key Business Initiatives: Collaborate with software engineers, customer support, go-to-market, and product managers to provide expertise and facilitate key initiatives. Serve as a subject matter expert to ensure our infrastructure deployment, management, and introspection tooling are automated, secure, and developer-friendly.

The Team

You will join the Platform Engineering team, whose mission is to offer an internal developer platform that abstracts cloud complexities and provides a unified interface, regardless of the underlying hosting vendor. This platform offers the essential building blocks for deploying software in a secure, compliant, and reliable manner.

Required Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in setting up, maintaining, and monitoring production infrastructure in a DevOps or similar role, focusing on cost efficiency and right-sizing
• 4+ years of experience with AWS and/or GCP, including general knowledge, monitoring, and security/compliance
• 2+ years of experience managing and scaling multi-region and/or multi-cloud Kubernetes clusters
• Strong background in architecting, building, and orchestrating networking for hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, and on-premises infrastructure
• Proven experience using Terraform for automated and programmatic infrastructure management
• Experience with telemetry tools like Datadog and Prometheus
• Proficiency in managing multi-environment infrastructure, from development through staging, canary, and production
• Experience in deploying, managing, optimizing, and securing cloud datastores, following best practices for software interaction

Nice to Have:

• Experience building and managing internal developer platforms
• Programming experience with Go and Python
• A solid understanding of CI/CD workflows and observability patterns

US Salary Range: $150,000 - $220,000 USD per year
