About the Role
Toronto Public Health's Epidemiology and Data Analytics Unit (EDAU) is seeking a Senior Project Manager for Data Visualization. You'll lead data visualization projects supporting population health surveillance and assessment by implementing detailed project plans and procedures. Collaborate with the EDAU management team to assess reporting needs, develop data cleaning and analysis processes, and perform technical architecture reviews and assessments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement detailed plans and recommend policies regarding program-specific requirements.
- Manage assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork, communication, and high standards of work quality.
- Conduct research into assigned areas, considering field developments, corporate policies, and legislation.
- Lead budget administration, ensuring project expenditures remain within approved limits.
- Plan and execute large-scale public health policy projects related to complex data systems.
- Provide strategic guidance, manage risks, and work towards measurable results in collaboration with project partners.
- Develop data visualization strategies for population health assessments, aiming to enhance corporate excellence and transparency.
- Manage project implementation issues, financial risks, and provide expert advice on emerging issues.
- Present deliverables to senior management and other City of Toronto Divisions.
- Supervise multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring effective teamwork and high work standards.
- Establish and develop partnerships with various divisions, agencies, and other government bodies.
- Provide ongoing strategic direction for project goals, including staffing and labor relations assistance.
- Make recommendations regarding service optimization and business process simplifications.
- Deliver high-risk policy reports and presentations to Committees of Council, senior management, and other stakeholders.
Key Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in a related discipline such as public health, health policy, or health planning, or equivalent education and extensive experience.
- Extensive experience in complex project management within a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Considerable experience in developing and implementing data visualization strategies for monitoring health issues.
- Experience in public health planning, knowledge translation strategies, and community engagement.
- Strong leadership skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship building.
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary public health teams.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for advancing public health projects.
- Political acumen and understanding of public relations and building partnerships.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, including Employment Standards Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
