Job Summary - Senior R&D Engineer

Ansys is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our R&D team responsible for developing Ansys circuit and simulation products, focusing on thermal Reduced Order Modeling (ROM) and linear macromodeling. We are looking for applicants with a robust background in circuit design and simulation, emphasizing state-space fitting algorithm development and ROM. The successful candidate will have a solid scientific software development background, an ability to develop novel solution approaches, and experience applying scientific principles to problem analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning, architecture, and research and development activities.
  • Perform complex software development activities, including user experience, software design, and solver research and implementations of new solver algorithms in C++.
  • Employ best software practices and maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring, also participating in planning and architecture.
  • Perform complex bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products.
  • Research and develop solutions for problems discovered by QA or product support.
  • Conduct complex development activities requiring extensive analysis in software design for numerical simulation.
  • Understand the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and potentially take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities.
  • Manage interns or co-ops.
  • Familiarity with Python programming and experience with AI-ML and deep learning applications is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience.
  • Commercial experience with thermal integrity applications is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with modern C++ and Agile development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with state-of-the-art linear macromodeling, ROM, and state-space fitting algorithms.
  • Expertise in numerical analysis.
  • Experience with software configuration management, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Passion for creating robust and efficient code.
  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.
