Your New Role

As a Senior Research Engineer in our Security Research team, you’ll delve into existing vulnerabilities, scout for new threats, and develop corresponding detection checks/plugins using Tenable products. This role provides an exciting blend of research and collaboration, offering interactions with various stakeholders outside the research team.

• Lead complex R&D initiatives
• Develop advanced detection logic with a sharp focus on accuracy
• Engage in pioneering detection methods and discussions
• Interface with stakeholders to share research outcomes
• Support and mentor fellow researchers

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you should be profoundly knowledgeable about the cybersecurity landscape and engaged in continual learning. Here are some specifics:

• In-depth knowledge of security industry advancements and hands-on research
• Proficiency in scripting for Tenable’s detection platforms, including Nessus
• Strong programming skills in C or Python
• Experience with Linux and multiple OS environments
• Exceptional communication abilities
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or substantial equivalent experience
• 3-5 years in development or R&D roles

Desired Extra Skills

• Understanding of TCP/IP, common security vulnerabilities, and networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, SSH, SMB
• Experience in penetration testing and vulnerability research
• Security certifications like OSCP
• Comfortable with systems administration and command-line operations
• Experience with Tenable’s suite including Nessus, Tenable.io, and SecurityCenter
