We are excited to announce an opening for a Senior Research Scientist in our Responsible & Open AI Research (ROAR) team at Azure Cognitive Services in Redmond, WA. This role is pivotal in advancing Responsible AI and ensuring the safe deployment of cutting-edge multimodal AI models like GPT-4 Vision, DALL-E, and Sora. Additionally, this position will contribute to the expansion and enhancement of the Azure AI Content Safety Service.

Responsibilities

Research and Development: Conduct leading-edge research to define and develop Responsible AI methodologies, algorithms, and models. Keep updated with the latest advancements in AI and contribute to the scientific community.

AI Safety and Deployment: Work on the safe release of multimodal models through Azure OpenAI Service and enhance Azure AI Content Safety Service with new detection technologies.

Qualifications

Required: A Doctorate in a relevant field or equivalent experience is mandatory.

Security Requirements: Must meet Microsoft, government, or customer security screening as mandated for this role. This includes a Microsoft Cloud Background Check at hiring and biennially.

Preferred: Six years of experience in fields like Computer Vision, Multimodal Analysis, or Deep Learning, especially with Python/Java/C++. Published work in top-tier journals/conferences and experience in large-scale data processing or cloud platforms are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in Responsible AI, have excellent communication skills, and be able to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

Salary and Benefits

Research Sciences IC4 - Typical base pay ranges from USD $112,000 to $218,400 annually, varying by location. In high cost-of-living areas like San Francisco Bay and New York City, the range is USD $145,800 to $238,600.
