Job Description

This is an in-person role based in our Montreal office. As a Senior Robotics Engineer on Vention’s Applications team, you’ll design, build, and test robotics solutions using Vention’s hardware, automation, and software ecosystem. Experience working with leading robot brands like FANUC, Universal Robots, and ABB is essential. You will collaborate closely with Automation, Electrical, Mechanical Engineers, and Robotics Engineers from Vention’s core product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and characterize robotic solutions leveraging Vention’s ecosystem.
  • Work daily with robots from multiple brands.
  • Support a team of younger automation and robotics engineers with your technical expertise.
  • Create prototype and early-version components to expand Vention’s productized applications.
  • Improve existing MachineApps releases and increase their feature sets.
  • Learn new industrial manufacturing processes to develop new productized applications.
  • Manage all phases of robotic product development from prototyping to post-release client support.
  • Draft documentation for applications including design guides and user manuals.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience deploying automated or robotic solutions.
  • Proficiency with major robot brands including Universal Robots, Doosan, Fanuc, Motoman (Yaskawa), ABB, and KUKA.
  • University degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic/Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years on-the-job experience.
  • Experience with programming languages like Python, C++, C#, VB.
  • Knowledge of ROS and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus/TCP, Modbus/RTU, Ethernet/IP) is an asset.
  • Understanding of machine safety and standards (e.g., ISO13849-1/2, CAN/CSA Z434, CAN/CSA Z432).
