This role is to enable a new robotic platform expanding Cruise’s capabilities. You’ll be given the opportunity to define a new product class inside Cruise from inside AV-Development. In this role, you will collaborate with teams working on scaling and our technical advisors. If you’re interested in making an impact and helping define new products, we’re looking to chat with you! What you’ll be doing: - Define the scope and operational domain of new robotics systems. - Prototype electromechanical systems to solve ambitious problems for our operations teams. - Working with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to define and build platform requirements. - Integrate this new platform with our existing hardware and cloud services. What you must have: - B.S. in mechanical, electrical or software engineering or similar field with 5+ years of demonstrated ability. - You should have experience designing, implementing, integrating and testing electromechanical systems. - You know how quadruped and/or bipedal robotic systems work. - You are comfortable writing C++ and Python and have opinions on when to use each of them. - You have experience modifying and writing nodes for ROS, and integrating your work with external APIs. - You understand extrinsics and intrinsics and reference frames. Bonus points for: - Experience with cameras or LiDAR. - Experience with mapping hardware and/or algorithms. - You are proactive and take ownership of your work. - You understand how to prioritize customer needs and identify issues before they occur in the field. The salary range for this position is $139,000 - $204,300. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
