Position Summary: Senior Software Development Engineer
As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the architecture and development of applications, backend services, and data-powered solutions at CVS Health. Our data products and services enable teams with near real-time data for big data analytics, insights, and scalable machine learning solutions.
Responsibilities
- Solution Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable, reliable applications and data systems, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, privacy, and compliance.
- Software Engineering: Implement best practices to build robust, maintainable data solutions with a focus on code quality, performance, and scalability.
- Software Architecture: Design and develop large-scale applications, backend services, and web APIs ensuring practicality, efficiency, and scalability.
- Data Architecture: Create large-scale data systems, including databases, data warehouses, and big data platforms.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize data processing and query performance using technologies such as Dataproc, GCS, and Big Query.
- Automation and Efficiency: Drive automation initiatives by developing scripts and frameworks to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Collaboration and Mentoring: Work with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and technologies in software and data engineering, evaluate new tools, and propose innovative solutions.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation and actively share knowledge with the team.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a software engineer focusing on data processing, data engineering, or large-scale data systems.
- Proficiency in technologies such as Python, SQL, and JavaScript. Experience with other software and data engineering tools is a plus.
- Proven ability to solve complex business or technical problems and propose effective software solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Software Engineering Skills: Expertise in building robust, scalable software solutions using modern practices.
- Data Architecture: Understanding of data architecture principles and experience in designing scalable data systems.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and drive successful team outcomes.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is: $97,335.00 - $201,900.00. This represents the base hourly rate or annual full-time salary for the job grade. The actual base salary will depend on factors like experience, education, and location. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range.
