About the Role

We're developing an AI-based assistant designed to understand context, leverage knowledge and goals, make decisions, and take actions to empower Asana users. The foundation of this assistant is an agentic framework, a series of rational, autonomous systems working in harmony to achieve objectives. As a Senior Product Engineer, you'll have the unique opportunity to architect this innovative framework and build the AI assistant. You'll engage in full-stack development, from designing robust backend frameworks to creating intuitive user interfaces, ensuring seamless AI integration throughout our product.

What You'll Achieve

• Design and construct an agentic framework to support multi-agent collaboration and decision-making, and develop the AI assistant powered by specialized agents.
• Create user-friendly experiences focusing on human-in-the-loop interactions and complex editing flows for tasks, projects, dashboards, and portfolios.
• Address cutting-edge challenges in agent-based modeling, emergent behaviors, safety considerations, and more, while collaborating cross-functionally to integrate AI into Asana's core architectures.
• Participate in every stage of the product development process, collaborating closely with PMs, customers, and cross-functional teams to deliver significant projects.
• Experience professional growth through opportunities to stretch, learn, and shape the future trajectory of AI at Asana.

About You

We're looking for candidates who have:

• 4+ years of experience working across the stack within large, well-maintained codebases.
• A proven track record of autonomously scoping and delivering complex, cross-cutting product initiatives, often coordinating the work of multiple engineers.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and tackling open-ended AI/product challenges.
• A passion for AI's potential to transform work and an eagerness to apply it effectively.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a comprehensive compensation package reflecting the value you create relative to your role's market value. For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $202,000 and $316,000, with actual base salary varying based on factors such as market and individual qualifications. Your compensation package may also include components like equity, sales incentive pay, and benefits.
