Your Role

We are searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic core speech technology team. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, researchers, and voice AI practitioners to develop cutting-edge voice AI products using SoundHound’s state-of-the-art ASR technologies. You'll apply your expertise in software engineering and machine learning to solve real-world voice AI problems and deliver valuable solutions to our customers.

In This Role, You Will:

• Train, tune, and test state-of-the-art ASR models for various languages using machine learning and deep learning techniques across all SoundHound voice AI products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ASR technologies into SoundHound products.
• Run benchmarks to monitor performance of ASR solutions and optimize ASR models for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across various platforms and applications.
• Provide customized ASR solutions to address any customer-specific or product-specific challenges.
• Triage and troubleshoot customer-related ASR issues and provide timely solutions.
• Work independently and lead technical initiatives to plan, design, and create new tools and features to enhance SoundHound ASR technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization.

Qualifications

We'd love to hear from you if you:

• Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant disciplines with 8 years of full-time work experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of full-time work experience.
• Have experience with automatic speech recognition, keyword detection, or natural language understanding.
• Have a good understanding of deep learning and neural networks fundamentals, and are proficient in deep learning frameworks.
• Are proficient in writing production-level Python code.
• Have experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization technologies in a cloud service environment.
• Have experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives.

Additional Preferred Skills

We'd be incredibly excited if you have:

• Experience with Kaldi, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
• Worked on projects enabling on-device models using TensorFlow Lite.
• Knowledge of the end-to-end ASR pipeline.
• Experience developing, tuning, deploying, and maintaining ASR models.
• Knowledge of NLP techniques related to ASR.
• Experience working with customers.
• Proficiency in writing production-level C++ code.

Location and Benefits

This role is available throughout Germany. Employees within a 100-kilometer radius of our Berlin office are expected to work from the office on three pre-scheduled “core days” each month to encourage cross-team connection and in-person collaboration. Apart from these “core days,” this position offers virtual/remote, hybrid, and in-office workplace options.
