Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:
Work intensively with the development team to refactor and modify an existing, Java-based monolith into microservices-based data pipelines.
Design, deploy, and manage containerized applications utilizing Kubernetes and GitOps principles to facilitate microservices-based data pipelines.
Apply big data processing and streaming solutions to efficiently manage large volumes of data.
Interface with REST APIs, data lakes, and messaging systems like RabbitMQ to extract, transform, and load data into the latest system.
Work alongside cross-functional teams to identify and integrate pertinent data sources and create data flow processes.
Design and develop data transformation pipelines, ensuring data quality, dependability, and scalability.
Implement monitoring and error-handling mechanisms to ensure the stability and performance of data pipelines.
Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance the performance of data pipelines as required.
Mentor and guide junior engineers regarding best practices for data engineering and cloud-native development.
Requirements
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in developing and maintaining software systems focusing on data engineering and cloud-native architecture.
Proficiency in Java, Python, and similar languages.
Proficiency in container orchestration with Kubernetes, inclusive of deployment, scaling, and application monitoring in a cloud-native environment.
Experience in big data processing and streaming technologies, such as Apache Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
The capacity to obtain a US security clearance post start date. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
Understanding of GitOps practices and experience with tools like Flux CD to automate and manage Kubernetes configurations, ensuring system reliability and scalability.
Familiarity with data lake architectures and best practices.
Proficiency in RESTful API integration and data extraction.
Experience with messaging systems like RabbitMQ or comparable technologies.
Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to design and implement data solutions from scratch.
Excellent communication capabilities and the talent to efficiently collaborate in cross-functional teams.
Experience redesigning legacy systems or developing greenfield data architectures is a significant plus.
