Position Overview

Join Natera's Production Bioinformatics Engineering team in a pivotal role as a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on the development and maintenance of sophisticated bioinformatics data ETL pipelines. This role is crucial in transforming raw genomic data into actionable clinical insights, thereby affecting patients globally. Working closely with R&D and engineering teams, this role will enhance data infrastructure systems used in genomic product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement efficient, scalable, and robust data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical implementations.
  • Optimize data systems for improved performance and scalability.
  • Ensure high data quality and integrity across distributed applications.
  • Secure data and comply with regulations like HIPAA and GDPR through effective access control systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and aid in their professional development.
  • Engage in code reviews, architectural discussions, and documentation processes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field.
  • Over 7 years of software engineering experience, with a focus on data engineering.
  • Relevant AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Data Engineer, etc.).

Desired Skills

  • Expertise in data modeling and various database technologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with AWS technologies (EC2, S3, Lambda, and others).
  • Knowledge of security principles, data privacy standards, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Background in regulated industries, preferably healthcare.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from $147,100 to $183,950 in San Carlos, CA. Compensation may vary based on location, skills, and experience.
