Your Day to Day

As a Senior Data Governance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Defining, designing, and implementing policies, standards, guidelines, tools, metrics, and standards for the data management and governance framework.
• Identifying the sensitivity and criticality of data, and ensuring appropriate business processes are in place to secure data and maximize accuracy.
• Owning data architecture standards, including data lineage, data modeling, and metadata management.
• Publishing and continually enhancing the Data Catalog.
• Identifying areas for improvement in local practices for managing data privacy.
• Coordinating with data security, privacy, and legal teams to ensure compliance and hygiene (e.g., SOX Audit, GDPR).
• Granting access privileges to authorized data users, documenting individuals with access, and controlling levels of access to ensure timely removal when no longer needed.
• Managing end-to-end data self-services that constitute governance, and ensuring their effectiveness, efficiency, and adoption in the business and user satisfaction.
• Promoting data literacy and developing training, awareness, and adoption of Data Governance practices across all functions.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or a related field, with over 6 years of directly relevant work experience.
• Expertise in data governance practices, including lifecycle management, data stewardship, metadata, lineage, UAT and data quality management.
• Proficiency in data protection management practices and regulations.
• An understanding of government regulatory requirements related to data and emerging trends.
• Experience implementing privacy and data compliance practices within organizations.
• Familiarity with handling data issues in a global environment, including lifecycle and maintenance processes.
• Extensive knowledge of quality management systems, methodologies, principles, and data management techniques.
• Technical expertise in SQL, basic Python, big data, data warehousing, analytics, and data science technologies.
• Detailed knowledge of data modeling concepts.
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with strong verbal and written proficiencies.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a curious and open-minded approach to challenges.
